• Seal entry points. Mice can squeeze through holes as small as a dime, inspect and seal all cracks and gaps around doors and windows, pipes and utility lines, foundation and attic vents, rooflines, and chimneys. Use steel wool, metal mesh, or caulk so rodents cannot chew through it.
• Keep the house clean. Wipe up crumbs and spills promptly. Store pantry items in sealed containers (glass, metal, or heavy plastic). Take out trash daily and use bins with tight-fitting lids.
• Eliminate outdoor attractions. Keep firewood, lumber, and compost at least 20 feet from your home. Trim bushes and trees away from the roof and siding.  Don’t leave pet food or bird seed outside overnight.
• Remove water sources. Fix leaky faucets, pipes, and hoses. Drain trays under appliances and avoid standing water near the foundation.
• Avoid clutter. Rodents love hiding in piles of boxes, newspapers, or unused items. Keep storage areas tidy and use plastic bins with lids instead of cardboard.
